Which Russian roads are the safest? The center for the safety of Russian roads answered this question, making Russian road safety rating. January 2016 was taken as the starting point of reference, and August as the final point of reference.
The rating includes information on 53 Russian regions in which more than a million people live. And the length of the "recorded" roads should be more than 5 thousand km long. When compiling the rating, the following were taken into account:
- the number of people living in the region;
- number of traffic accidents;
- the number of people who were injured or died as a result of an accident;
- fleet size in the region;
- length of regional roads.
In the first place on road safety was the Tyumen region. During the reporting period, 161 accidents occurred in it due to poor road surface. This is the best indicator since 2013. And here is a complete list of safe Russian roads, sorted from the best to the worst. Green indicates the safest roads in the country, yellow indicates medium-hazard roads, and red indicates the most dangerous roads.
In 2015-2016, thanks to the introduction of speed-tracking cameras of the Avtodoria intellectual system, the number of speed violations decreased by almost three times. However, according to the expert for the safety of Russian roads, Sergei Vorobyov, the situation on Russian roads in road accidents does not get better. With a formal comparison of the ratings of 2015-2016, it becomes clear that the "safety factors" are reduced, albeit not too much. For example, in Tatarstan, it fell from 3.3 to 3.15. However, the average number of dead and injured as a result of road accidents is not getting smaller. If in the ranking of dangerous and safe roads of the Russian Federation for 2015 the average death toll and wounded in traffic accidents were 10.5 and 108 people, respectively, this year it is 9.8 dead and 117 crippled, respectively, that is, the difference is within the statistical error .
Perhaps the strategic federal project “Safe and High-Quality Roads” will help improve the situation with street-road networks. It is among the priority ones and provides for the construction of new road facilities and bringing the central highways, as well as roads adjacent to federal highways, to a standard and safe condition for drivers and passengers. In the meantime, this project has not been fully implemented, it remains only to rely on your own driving skills, luck, and when traveling with your family do not forget about car seats (readers can check out our rating of 2016 child car seats for safety)
