10. Resident Evil 7
Release date: January 2017
The new part of the horror film from Capcom has departed from the idea of the last few parts, but this did not hurt her at all. The tense and fearful atmosphere of the trap in which the protagonist Ethan, who is looking for his missing wife, is very close to the first game of the series. In a house full of maniacs and monsters, the player will not leave a feeling of claustrophobia, and often panic, as the supply of weapons and ammunition is extremely limited, and often instead of a spectacular battle with the enemy you will have to choose the “run and hide” tactics.
Compared to previous games, Resident Evil 7 lost a game element called Quick Time Events, but then it reappeared puzzles, the need to allocate resources and use herbs.
9. Torment: Tides of Numenera
Release date: February 2017
A worthy heir to the wonderful game Planescape: Torment offers gamers the same style of atmospheric and very well-crafted wagering in a strange new setting.
This game is unlikely to appeal to fans of action, there is not much of it. But those who like to interact with the characters, read the walls of the text and follow the interesting development of the plot will be delighted by Tides of Numenera. The protagonist of the game is very similar to Nameless from Planescape: Torment. He does not remember anything about himself and the world around him, at least at the beginning of the action. But who visited the character’s body, where this creature later disappeared and who preys on the hero, remains to be seen during the game.
8. Nier: Automata
Release date: March 2017
The bizarre open world of this RPG from Japanese game designer Yoko Taro will delight gamers who are close to the spirit of anime and manga. A fragile android chan with a sword (and then characters will be added to it), a world full of robots, some of which create their own communities and even try to copy human behavior, riddles related to humanity and aliens - all this will immerse the player for a long time in fascinating gameplay .
7. Styx: Shards of Darkness
Release date: March 2017
Pure stealth game with the vile goblin Styx in the title role. The player will have to quietly navigate through perfectly implemented levels, and all this is complemented by an excellently flexible skill system that encourages and rewards creative thinking. But it’s not recommended to fight people on equal terms with Styx, only ambush attacks, only hardcore.
6. Outlast 2
Release date: April 2017
This first-person horror plunges the player into the abyss of pure, uncluttered horror. You will have to hone your stealth skills, hiding from the crazy religious fanatics who are chasing the character - videographer Blake Langermann - through the deserted village of Arizona and the flooded mines. Perhaps convinced Christians will not be delighted with Outlast 2, but here people who appreciate high-quality horror movies with “insanity” will definitely like the game.
5. Yooka Laylee
Release date: April 2017
You rarely see a game that manages to reproduce the spirit of classic 3D platformers and Yooka-Laylee, the spiritual successor of the Banjo-Kazooie, is one of those lucky finds. The two main characters - the chameleon Yuka and the bat Leili sitting on his head - can transform into various extraordinary forms in order to gain new abilities. As the game progresses, they collect items to unlock new worlds-levels. Each level will have its own head and arcade mini-games, and before the last boss there will also be a quiz, which Banjo-Kazooie was famous for.
4. Bayonetta
Release date: April 2017
Good things come to those who are waiting: now the story of the beautiful witch Bayonetta has reached the PC. Enjoy hurricane action in 4K resolution and at 60 frames per second. True, not everyone may like the lack of the Russian language in the game, the abundance of plot clips and a small number of opponents, but the levels in Bayonetta are very diverse and beautiful, the bosses are not similar in mechanics, and the eroticism of the main character just rolls over.
3. Prey
Release date: May 2017
The first-person shooter, which has little resemblance to the original Prey game, was liked by both players and critics with a non-linear plot, and a creative approach to solving problems.
On board a research vessel designed to study the mysterious alien life form, the player will have to use his own ingenuity and alien abilities to survive, since the failure of this mission will destroy both the station and, possibly, the whole Earth. There will be several endings in Prey depending on how the player interacted with the survivors at the station, used his abilities and explored the station.
2. RiME
Release date: May 2017
A very beautiful and measured game that you want to play after a hard working day. The main character in it is a boy who, after a shipwreck, was on a mysterious island and gradually reveals all his secrets. Funny graphics, nice music and picturesque landscapes allow you to enjoy the gameplay one hundred percent.
1. Dirt 4
Release date: June 2017
The racing simulator, which is called "in the heat of the heat" (released on June 9), leads the rating of the best games of 2017. Players are waiting for the competition for time on asphalt and off-road and in various weather conditions. Rally stages take place in five places:
- Fitzroy, Australia,
- Tarragona, Spain,
- Michigan, USA,
- Vermland, Sweden
- Powys, Wales.
And the cars involved in the races are taken from a variety of time periods: the 80s and 90s of the last century, the 2000s and 2010. In the creation of the fourth game of the series, rally car racing stars Chris Mike and Petter Sulberg took part.
